Many MCU fans have been left wondering if Doctor Doom will replace Kang as the main villain moving forward in the MCU. With the legal drama surrounding Jonathan Majors, is it possible for Marvel to abandon Kang altogether? Here’s all you need to know.
Will Doctor Doom replace Kang in Avengers: Secret Wars?
Marvel reportedly considered replacing Kang the Conqueror with another Marvel villain like Doctor Doom, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
While Jonathan Majors’ career has taken a hit due to the legal battle with his former partner, Marvel has reportedly been waiting for the court’s verdict to decide on his MCU future. But Variety reported that a conversation for his replacement has taken place at Marvel Studios, and Doctor Doom’s name was tossed in as a viable option to be the new MCU main villain. However, no decision has officially been made.
Fans could argue that Doctor Doom could be a good choice to replace Kang in a project like Avengers: Secret Wars because he was also the main villain in the comic book Secret Wars event. So, if the situation arises, Marvel could make it happen. At the time of writing, however, it isn’t happening, and credible leaker MTTSH has corroborated that.
Marvel is seemingly continuing their development of Kang with the notion that Majors is “innocent until proven guilty.” Since they are moving forward with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, it’s likely that Kang will continue to be the main big bad of the Multiverse Saga.
Who is the next MCU villain after Kang?
No particular villain has seemingly been chosen as the next big bad for the MCU after Kang. However, Galactus could be a likely option.
While Marvel has already used plenty of villains, many are still left to make their debut. Anyone could be chosen as the new main villain after Kang since there have been talks of a semi-reboot.
But with the likes of Galactus reportedly making his debut soon, he could be prioritized. Other options include Doctor Doom and Magneto, but nothing is confirmed at present.
