After the success of the first season, Primo Season 2’s release date is highly anticipated. The new comedy series on Amazon Freevee revolves around the story of a Mexican-American teenager Rafa. He is a high-schooler and navigates life being raised by a single mom and his five uncles, while also juggling college aspirations and societal expectations.
Here’s all the Primo Season 2 release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.
Is there a Primo Season 2 release date?
Considering the first season was only recently released in May 2023, fans have loved watching the series and are yearning for a second season. While an official renewal remains unclear and a release date hasn’t been released, executive producer Mike Schur revealed to TV Insider that they’d written most of Season 2 and were hopeful for a renewal as well.
Schur further revealed that the storylines for a second season came to them quickly and the team ideated it together with ease. He also confessed to being paid by the platform to write a Season 2 and said, “Freevee paid for us to actually write it. It’s all ready to go at a second’s notice.” Given that the first season aired in mid-2023, if renewed, viewers can expect the second to air sometime in mid-2024.
However, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have delayed several show schedules, so it is possible that Primo Season 2 will also be delayed. If these are resolved, then fans can see their favorite characters on their TV screens sometime by the end of next year. For now, Schur hopes for a potentially long future for the show and said, “We’re just crossing our fingers that it connects with people.”
This date is an estimation based on the information we have at the time of this writing.
The cast list for the series includes Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Christina Vidal, Carlos Santos, Henri Esteve, Johnny Rey Diaz, Jonathan Medina, Efrain Villa, Stakiah Washington, Martin Martinez, Nigel Siwabessy, and more. Shea Serrano serves as the series creator.
