The ending of Netflix‘s live-action adaptation of One Piece might have left some fans puzzled. Who’s that ominous figure appearing right before the end? And has a sequel already been ordered? Here’s what you need to know, and beware of spoilers.
Who’s the Marine at the end of One Piece?
The Marine looking at Luffy’s bounty at the end of One Piece is Smoker.
Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his crew might be heading toward the Grand Line, but new and more powerful enemies are ahead. The mysterious figure at the end of One Piece seems quite a formidable opponent for the Straw Hat Pirates. While he didn’t get an official introduction, he is surely Smoker.
In the manga and the anime, Smoker is tall, has a muscular build, and is typically seen wearing a long black coat and a white hat. His most distinctive feature is the large cigar he constantly smokes. He possesses the power of the Moku Moku no Mi (Smoke-Smoke Fruit), a Logia-type Devil Fruit. This allows him to transform his body into smoke and control smoke at will.
Has One Piece season 2 already been announced?
Netflix hasn’t announced One Piece season 2 yet.
Many more adventures of Luffy and the Mugiwara can be adapted into a live-action series. However, the popular streamer has yet to officially announce One Piece’s renewal. Much depends on how well One Piece fans respond to the live-action adaptation. Also, the time they will spend watching the show developed by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda. The first reaction of critics and audiences was quite positive, so it might be just a matter of time before season 2 is announced.
