Here’s an explanation of the ending for Longlegs and what ultimately happens to Harker.
What are the Longlegs movie ending spoilers?
The ending of the Longlegs movie is somewhat open-ended, but we learn much about the fate of Lee Harker, her partner Agent Carter (Blair Underwood), and Longlegs himself.
In the climax of the film, we learn that Longlegs is an insane Satan worshipper. After being taken into custody by Lee, he is interrogated by the agent and then repeatedly slams his head against the desk, killing himself. It is also discovered that Lee’s mother was responsible for sending the dolls, which are possessed by the devil, to the families who ended up being murdered.
These dolls would become a conduit for the devil to take over the father of the family and convince him to murder his family. This explains how Longlegs was able to pull off his serial killings without any sign of breaking and entering.
Unfortunately, Lee is unable to do anything about a doll that is discovered in the home of Agent Carter. After she arrives at the house upon being invited over for his daughter’s birthday, the doll possesses Carter, who snaps and kills his wife.
Luckily, Lee is able to shoot Carter before he’s able to murder anyone else and escapes with his daughter in tow. However, it’s unclear what happens to the doll, since Lee runs out of bullets before it can be destroyed, and whether the devil is still able to spread his evil influence through other dolls elsewhere. There are some fan theories that Lee has been possessed as well at the end, but there’s not much evidence of this happening.
