With the season premiere of Disney’s new Star Wars series The Acolyte taking place, there already are plenty of rumors about the show’s future. So far, much of the speculation surrounds the cancellation and renewal of the show by Disney. Let’s find out whether Star Wars: The Acolyte is canceled or renewed for another season.
Did Disney Cancel Star Wars: The Acolyte?
Disney has neither confirmed nor denied the cancellation or renewal of The Acolyte for a second season.
While there is no official confirmation about season 2, in there have been unsubstantiated rumors that an alleged insider at Lucasfilm claims that there will be no second season of The Acolyte. This information seems to be a very vague assumption without any strong basis. Additionally, Disney or Lucasfilm have not yet made any official announcements about the cancellation of the series.

It is very unlikely for the series to see cancellation even before its premiere. Considering how well past Star Wars series including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka have done, nobody can assume anything negative about The Acolyte until it comes out. Also, after the release of the trailer for the show, Collider spoke to showrunner Leslye Headland. Here Headland said, “I would say that when I pitched it, I definitely pitched it as a multi-season show. There are a lot of things at the end of this season that I think are narrative threads that are not tied up, for sure.” She also claimed that she is “the type of writer that is not interested in an emotional cliffhanger.”
However, until an official announcement about the renewal of the series for season 2, we cannot be sure of anything. Star Wars: The Acolyte will follow the investigations carried out by Jedi Master Sol along with a former Padawan Osha.
