Many viewers will wonder who Darrien is at the end of Baby Reindeer. After seeing Donny suffer so much at his hands, it’s no surprise that people want to know if his real-life name has been revealed. After all, at the bare minimum, he committed several felonious acts during the show.
Has Darrien from Baby Reindeer had his real identity revealed?
While many viewers hoped Darrien from Baby Reindeer would have his real name revealed, that’s not the case. Instead of naming and shaming his actual abuser, Richard Gadd, the man Donny is based on, has decided to keep his identity a secret. Gadd has gone so far as to plead with his audience not to go looking for Darrien in real life.
No candidates for Darrien have been found aside from some crackpot fan theories. Gadd claims that enough details were changed for Baby Reindeer that people would have a hard time finding any of the people the characters it is based on.
So, we still don’t know who Darrien is, and if the audience wants to respect Gadd’s wishes, they won’t go looking for him. Ironically, a tiny subset of Baby Reindeer’s viewers have shown stalker-like behavior, seeking information on Gadd’s past. Because of this, Gadd has had to make multiple comments to remind fans that he wants the matter to be dropped.
Gadd has no legal obligation to turn the real Darrien in, and in the end, it’s his decision on what to do about the situation.
