Sony Unveils Death Stranding 49-Minute Gameplay Footage

Hideo Kojima and Sony surprised audiences of the Tokyo Game Show with brand new footage revealing 49 minutes of gameplay giving a more in-depth look at mechanics including loadouts, crafting, stats of the player character Sam and more, which can be viewed in the player below!

From Kojima comes an all new, genre defining experience for the PlayStation 4. Besieged by death’s tide at every turn, Sam Bridges must brave a world utterly transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the stranded remnants of the future in his hands, Sam embarks on a journey to reunite the shattered world one step at a time. What is the mystery of the Death Stranding? What will Sam discover on the road ahead? A genre defining gameplay experience holds these answers and more.

The game features an ensemble cast of small screen and video game talent led by The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus, Hannibal‘s Mads Mikkelsen, Spectre‘s Léa Seydoux, The Bionic Woman‘s Lindsay Wagner, The Last of Us‘ Troy Baker, Constantine: City of Demons‘ Emily O’Brien and The Shape of Water‘s Guillermo del Toro.

In addition to a terrifyingly dark and suspenseful look at the gameplay for the project, the trailer also revealed two previously not announced cast members in the form of The Leftovers alum Margaret Qualley and Nicolas Winding Refn, director of the acclaimed action-thriller Drive.

Kojima first announced the game at E3 2016 to rave reception from fans and critics, with only a teaser trailer for the project being shown that gave audiences a look at the mysterious and dark world while revealing nothing of the story or gameplay.

The 55-year-old director is best known for creating the Metal Gear Solid series and directing all but one of the entries while also directing the wildly acclaimed psychological horror P.T., which was intended to be a prequel demo the a new installment in the acclaimed Silent Hill franchise before the project was cancelled.

Death Stranding is set to hit shelves on November 8.
