A return to PC for the original Resident Evil?
Resident Evil has been on PC before, but that was quite a long time ago, and it’s not on Steam or any other digital marketplace. That’s led fans to speculate if a possible re-release of the original trilogy could be happening.
The first four games have all been remade, but there’s still a desire to have the original three out there for preservation’s sake. If the first game is back on PC, there’s some chance the following two titles could find themselves out there, too.
The only game in the original trilogy available on modern consoles or PCs is the Resident Evil Director’s Cut, which is available on PS Plus Premium for PS4 and PS5. The last time we saw the three titles on a digital storefront was during the PS3/PS Vita era, when select PS One titles were available.
Resident Evil was first released in 1996, and it has since become one of the most successful and recognizable horror game franchises. It’s believed the ninth mainline installment is currently in production.
Capcom has done a pretty good job of pleasing the series’ fans in recent years, and with no new entry currently in sight, a quick trip back to the past would be a nice touch.
