Publisher Atlus shared a new trailer for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. Releasing June 14 on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox and PlayStation consoles, the re-release expands the game with an alternate “Canon of Vengeance” story path.
Atlus teases new content coming in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
Atlus gave Shin Megami Tensei fans a preview of the new content with a trailer on Tuesday. This includes a post-apocalyptic version of Tokyo for players to explore. It also adds 40 new demons for players to recruit and command, bringing the total to 270. Players also got a teaser for the new alternate storyline, which revolves around the new character Yoko Hiromine.
The upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance includes all the 2021 content as the “Canon of Creation” story path. Vengeance adds the new “Canon of Vengeance” path featuring new characters and different possible endings. Both paths follow the same events at first but deviate significantly in the second half of the game. Atlus estimates that each route should take about 80 hours to complete.
Atlus hasn’t revealed much about Yoko other than she’s central to the new Vengeance storyline. Earlier teasers warned that she represents an inherent threat to the world of Shin Megami Tensei, leading it to “chaos and ruin.” The new trailer also reveals that she’s been wronged in the past and shows she may have a somewhat pessimistic outlook.
In addition to the new content, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance includes the original game’s DLC. However, Vengeance will also get new DLC exclusive to it. Unfortunately, there is no system for players to transfer their progress from the game’s original version.
