Since releasing yesterday, the eagerly awaited Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been receiving a lot of negative feedback from the community. Now, Capcom has responded to what fans are saying, with assurance that some of the big issues are being looked at.
Will it be enough?
At the time of writing, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a review score of “mixed” on Steam. Some notable criticism of the game boils down to things like the inclusion of microtransactions and poor performance, which some are attesting to the implementation of the unpopular Denuvo DRM software.
Earlier today, Capcom posted a message to the community in relation to responses the game has been receiving. The recent post on Steam acknowledges that some are not happy with the current state of things.
A number of issues have been noted, such as the occurrence of crashes and bugs. The message says the team is “investigating/fixing critical problems,” while also “addressing crashes and bug fixes starting from those with the highest priority in patches in the near future.”
The developer is also looking into the concept of starting a new game. This could well be in response to criticism that DD2 only allows for one save file. Capcom says it will be looking into “adding a feature to the Steam version of the game that will allow players that are already playing to restart the game.”
As for the DLC – which has been notable for having quite a lot so soon after the game’s release – the post makes it clear that some of the downloadable content can be earned in-game as well:
- Art of Metamorphosis – Character Editor
- Ambivalent Rift Incense – Change Pawn Inclinations
- Portcrystal – Warp Location Marker
- Wakestone – Restore the dead to life!
- 500 Rift Crystals / 1500 Rift Crystals / 2500 Rift Crystals – Points to Spend Beyond the Rift
- Makeshift Gaol Key – Escape from gaol!
- Harpysnare Smoke Beacons – Harpy Lure Item
As for framerate issues, there is an explanation about how “CPU usage is allocated to each character.” However, the studio will be looking into ways to improve performance in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
