Preorders for Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake have been going up on several prominent online stores, suggesting there is imminent news on the game’s release date.
Silent Hill 2 Remake News Soon?
Since yesterday, preorders have gone up for the much-anticipated title at outlets such as Amazon and GameStop, with the GameStop social media account teasing fans in the replies to a tweet by ResidentEvilCentral that news is coming soon.
There’s been radio silence on all but one of the Silent Hill projects announced last year (and fans would rather not talk about Silent Hill Ascension at the moment), so some news has been needed on them for some time. Earlier this year, Steam achievements popped up for the game before being taken down again.
The Silent Hill 2 remake is being developed by Polish studio Bloober Team, who have created horror games such as Layers of Fear, Observer, Blair Witch, and The Medium. It’s been a contentious choice for the fanbase, who have concerns Bloober is the wrong fit for a Silent Hill game, despite reassurances from the developer that it was taking great care to keep things faithful to the revered original.
Konami yesterday seemed to let slip that other old Silent Hill titles could get the remake treatment beyond Silent Hill 2 after an earnings report mentioned Silent Hill ”remakes”.
Silent Hill 2 will be a timed PS5 exclusive when it first launches.
