Gaming hardware company Analogue announces a version of the Nintendo 64 called the Analogue 3D. Described as “A reimagining of the N64,” its features include 4K graphics and a variety of retro-inspired display modes.

The Analogue 3D launches next year and will let players revisit classic N64 games in 4K HD. Meanwhile, the consoles can also simulate the visual quality of specific PVM and CRT monitors from the N64 period. This means players are covered whether they want a high-resolution or retro experience. Other features include Bluetooth, a 2.4G wireless connection, and four Nintendo 64 controller sockets. Analogue says the 3D is “The first and only aftermarket solution supporting 100% compatibility in every region.” As with Analogue’s other systems, the 3D does not run an emulator. Instead, the console’s integrated circuitry mimics the original hardware.
Analogue specializes in modern revivals of classic consoles. In 2019, the company released the Analogue Pocket, a handheld console compatible with Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games. Users could also buy adapters for Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket, Neo Geo Pocket Color, and Atari Lynx game cartridges. The company also made consoles compatible with NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, Game Gear, and SG-1000. Its other upcoming console, the Analogue Duo, supports all cartridge and disk-based NEC consoles.
The Analogue 3D launches in 2024, and prospective buyers can sign up for notifications on the company’s website. It’s unclear how much the new console will cost. However, the Analogue Pocket and Duo retailed at $249.99, so the new console may be around that price.
