Multiplayer shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite has entered into its third season with an update that introduces a new character, some weapons, and the ability to add more loadouts for each soldier. The latter is a much-needed quality-of-life improvement that will allow players to experiment with the game’s full arsenal without fiddling through menus after each round.

The Lancer class is the seventh playable class in Aliens: Fireteam Elite, joining the existing space marines in their fight against hordes of xenomorphs. They carry the Particle Lance ability, a backpack that launches out energy projectiles in a straight line. Perfect for facing down a hallway full of galactic scum, the lance burns through foes with ease and is mainly geared toward doing damage to a single, big target.
The Lancer (and the rest of the game’s characters) can equip several new weapons as of this update, including the Fireball incendiary grenade launcher, the X45 Bombard Flechette Rifle, the Mark 7 Mod 2 CQB Pistol, and a heavy arms version of the familiar Pulse Rifle. There is also a new set of cosmetic unlocks available for players dedicated to unlocking everything, as well as more perks, Challenge Cards, emotes, and more. Deluxe edition owners even get a whole extra batch of cosmetic items. All of this new stuff sits alongside a suite of bug fixes, which Cold Iron Studios detailed on its website.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite released across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in August 2021 and its second season started in November 2021. The game was released to mixed reviews, but it seems as though Cold Iron is keen on continuing support for the shooter. The studio has announced that the game will have at least one more season, as evidenced by its most recent roadmap.
