The classic arcade game Snow Bros. is making a comeback, and is set to release on the Nintendo Switch sometime later this year.

The news comes via an announcement by Clear River Games, with the enhanced game — now called Snow Bros. Special — set to feature a slew of updates. These updates include the ability to play cooperatively and a new “Monster Challenge” mode that lets players control the monsters in the game, all of whom have their own special moves and controls.
“As a retro game fan, I’m honored to be able to let old and new players rejoice Snow Bros. Retro games are filled with childhood memories and with Snow Bros. Special fans of the original game can rekindle their love,” said Sung-Gil Yim, founder of CRT Games and executive producer on Snow Bros. Special. “The original game’s simple and intuitive controllers are reflected in Snow Bros. Special which makes it easy for new players to appreciate the game as they get to know Nick and Tom.”
Snow Bros. Special will launch in both digital and physical editions, with the game set to arrive on the Nintendo eShop later this year, and Clear River Games publishing a physical version in Europe and North America as well. The physical version of the game will contain an instruction manual and three sticker sheets.

Originally released in 1990 in Japanese arcades, Snow Bros. stars two snowmen twins, Nick and Tom, as they travel through various stages and defeating enemies while trying to save the princesses Puripuri and Puchipuchi. The game was originally launched just as an arcade title, but later ported to multiple platforms, including the NES and Sega Mega Drive.
