Techland has been revealing more and more about its open-world, zombie-infused parkour game Dying Light 2: Stay Human through its Dying 2 Know series before its February 4 launch. The most recent episode showcased a mission that took place later in the game, which meant showcased some more advanced combat and traversal abilities.
The “A Place to Call Home” quest showed protagonist Aiden Caldwell in his journey to check out power substations and, later on, stop a bandit raid at a bar called The Fish Eye. Caldwell received a paraglider that he then used to glide around the city, using air vents as ways to boost higher. The gameplay showed how players can use this tool in their arsenal of parkour moves and smoothly move through and around buildings.
The gameplay then gave a peek at the combat and how Caldwell can quickly vault over enemies and drop kick others in one fluid motion. After a brief skirmish and some light puzzle solving, the mission then asked him to assign electricity to one of two different factions while it laid out the pros of each decision on the screen.
Another part of the mission showed Caldwell at The Fish Eye as he battled up on rooftops and used his parkour skills to both travel from objective to objective and get an upper hand on his foes. For example, Caldwell can counter and redirect an enemy’s momentum and shove them off buildings in addition to using the aforementioned drop kick to send them to their death. With its look at combat, traversal, and how the two intertwine in addition to the choices found in the narrative, the mission seemed designed to show off each of the game’s big systems.

Senior Producer Kornel Jaskuła then spoke about how players don’t need to have played the first game to understand the sequel and how this game will have twice as many combat and parkour moves over its predecessor.
And since it is Techland’s 30th anniversary, the company announced a few celebratory giveaways. The studio will be giving away its first game, 2000’s Crime Cities, on GOG and Steam (it’s not currently live but will likely be free shortly). And next week on December 9, users can check Steam and grab a free copy of 2013’s Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.
