A brand-new way to play Asteroids is coming with Atari’s newly announced Asteroids: Recharged. In conjunction with Adamvision Studios and SneakyBox Studios, Atari will launch the new game on December 14, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, and the Atari VCS for $9.99. The Atari VCS version will include exclusive content, as well.

Asteroids: Recharged aims to bring a new take to the iconic franchise, but stick true to the roots of the game. Judging by the brief trailer for the game, Asteroids: Recharged looks to be mostly the same in terms of gameplay, but with a much more modern skin and new soundtrack.
Alongside the new visuals, Asteroids: Recharged will also support optimization for widescreen monitors, as well as a higher refresh rate. New power-ups have also been included into the game, including the Reflector, Orbiting Bullets, Mega Lasers, and Side Attack shots. It will also have couch co-op.

This isn’t the only classic title Atari has recharged. The company has also released Centipede: Recharged, Missile Command: Recharged, and Black Widow: Recharged which all similarly modernize the arcade classics they are based upon.
