Resident Evil 3: Remastered is a beautiful-looking game that suffers from outdated gameplay mechanics, a rudimentary storyline and bland characters. Fans of the series will enjoy the latest entry in the long-running saga as a fun bit of pop nostalgia — it is a remake of the popular Resident Evil: Nemesis from the late 90s, after all — but those seeking a more refreshing take on the girl-battles-zombies-whilst-looking-for-herbs video game need not apply. Check out the walkthrough video in the player below, and click here to purchase Resident Evil 3: Remastered!

No, I’m not an ardent Resident Evil fan, but I was excited for this remastered edition. I love a good shoot’em up and am typically open to different styles of gameplay, but Resident Evil just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe it’s the convoluted plot mechanics, such as a long series involving a firehose, that feels more like a lazy excuse for the makers to create an extremely small map to traverse; or the point-and-click style that instantly recalls those cheesy old Hugo’s House of Horrors games from the early 90s — click on the spiderweb; congratulations, you’ve found the key! — but the style deeply limits entertainment value.
As proof, you can check out my video below (featuring my brother Josh), which chronicles an hours worth of gameplay; and culminates with a pretty cool battle Royale versus the dreaded Nemesis atop a building engulfed in flames. Though, the spectacular finale is outdone by almost 45 minutes of the atypical Resident Evil shenanigans, ie. running around looking for items and herbs whilst bumping into goofy characters — hello, Carlos! — and bizarre situations — hello, sewer monsters!
Enjoy the walkthrough, or shake your head at our inability to retain ammo, fire weapons properly; or navigate a subway train control panel without resorting to cheating. We generally suck at all games, but really suck at those featuring Resident Evil in the title.
