Willem Dafoe is Marilyn Monroe in new Snickers spot
Willem Dafoe is known for playing loony characters from Bobby Peru in Wild at Heart to The Green Goblin in Spider-Man to the merciless killer Jopling in The Grand Budapest Hotel, but now the thesp, who has played everything from a four-armed Thark to Jesus Christ, takes on his greatest role yet: Marilyn Monroe. In the latest “Hungry?” ad from Snickers, Dafoe stands in as the temperamental starlet standing over a subway grate in her white skirt in the iconic moment from 1955’s The Seven Year Itch.
Keep your eyes peeled from a cameo from another great character actor, the great Eugene Levy (Best in Show, American Pie) playing a hapless fan operator.
Dafoe himself has the blockbuster Chinese epic The Great Wall coming out later this year, in which he co-stars with Matt Damon in the Zhang Yimou film that is the largest epic ever shot in the country. It opens in theaters on November 23.
