Mini-Review:

When this DVD arrived at my house, my kids ripped it open and watched it three times before I even got home. They’ve watched it every day since and they’re eager to put the digital copy on their iPods. So if your kids are “Phineas and Ferb” fans, you’re going to get a lot of mileage out of this DVD.

As much as “Phineas and Ferb” plays in my house, I’m happy to say that it’s not only tolerable but it makes me laugh on occasion. Most of the laughs come from the incompetent supervillain Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. Every line out of his mouth is hilarious and you can tell the writers and performers have a lot of fun with the character. There are also little jokes hidden here and there throughout the movie including a subtle “Star Wars” joke which I enjoyed. So it’s nice that they include things for the adults to appreciate, too.

For long time “Phineas and Ferb” fans, they finally get the payoff where the young boys discover that their pet Perry the Platypus is a super agent. It plays out a little differently than you might expect, but it’s still enjoyable. This movie also features every device that the boys have created in the previous episodes for a big battle in the finale. Any kid that has followed the series is in danger of having their head explode from seeing it all come together. The only down side is the fact that at the end of the episode, everything is put back to normal so that the successful Disney series can continue running on as-is. It’s a little disappointing that the series doesn’t progress, but I suppose if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

If you have a family that watched “Phineas and Ferb” then this DVD purchase will be money well spent.

Unfortunately the bonus features are minimal. There’s a jukebox, a bonus episode of the series, and other minor stuff. The case also contains a Platypult Kit which my kids utterly destroyed a short time after getting their hands on it.
