Here, hilarity ensues when the bungling bunch run into a colorful collection of characters including a flamboyant pirate and a gang of wizardry-apprentices who they join forces with to overthrow the wicked White Bitch of Gnarnia.”

Mini-Review:

“Epic Movie” is pretty much what you’d expect from the creators of “Scary Movie.” It’s a really bad film featuring raunchy jokes, dumb jokes, and movie parodies loosely strung together by something vaguely resembling a plot. “Epic Movie” is worse than most of these parody films because it doesn’t effectively mock any of the movies it targets. It briefly makes fun of “X-Men,” “Harry Potter,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Superman Returns,” “Nacho Libre,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.” These generate a few chuckles. However, “The Chronicles of Narnia” is its main target and it’s a weak one at that. Why “Narnia” and not, say, “Lord of the Rings”? The result is a lame parody.

The only shining moment in the whole film is Darrell Hammond as Captain Jack Swallows. His spot on imitation of Captain Jack Sparrow is one of the few things that make “Epic Movie” worth checking out. (Oddly enough, Kal Penn and Héctor Jiménez both starred in movies parodied by “Epic Movie.”)

If you’re a big fan of the “Scary Movie” films, then you’ll probably enjoy this.

There is an insane number of bonus features on this DVD. You have your standard offerings like the Commentary by Writers/Directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, Outtakes, an Alternate Ending, the making of Lazy Pirate Day, and others. But you also have “Everyone Loves Beaver: Epic Hookups”. In this, the cast jokes about the secret relationships created on the set. Then there’s an interview with Fred Willard entitled “What Makes Aslo So Irresistible?”. Two specials from the Fox Movie Channel are also included with some games and a special on the sounds of the film. In short, while the movie is crap, they went all out on the extras.
