Synopsis:

“Commander in Chief” originally aired from 2005-2006. The following is from the DVD cover:

“Acclaimed actress Geena Davis joins Emmy® Award winner Donald Sutherland and an accomplished cast in a captivating blend of drama, excitement, and political intrigue. Enjoy the thrilling conclusion to the series’ award-winning first season — complete with exclusive bonus features. As a potentially devastating confrontation with North Korea escalates, President Allen’s (Davis) leadership skills are put to the test. At the same time, tensions remain high between the President and the Speaker of the House (Sutherland), forcing the Commander in Chief to master the art of political hardball — all while juggling the full-time responsibilities of motherhood. The San Francisco Chronicle raves that Davis is an “inspired choice, equal parts powerful leader, conflicted mother, and concerned wife.” Experience the excitement and the drama of this outstanding series with the gripping culmination of Season One.”

“Commander in Chief: The Inaugural Edition Part 2 ” is rated TV-PG.

Mini-Review:

You can read my thoughts about the series itself in the first disc review. I’ll focus on the bonus features here.

For some odd reason, the creators decided to sell Season One (the only season, for that matter) in two separate sets. The bonus features ended up on this set rather than spread between the two. You’ll find a six minute conversation with Geena Davis. She talks about why she took the role, what’s interesting about it, etc. Also included are 20 deleted scenes from various episodes throughout the season. There’s also your standard blooper reel and some commentaries for a couple of the episodes. In short, there’s not a lot special here.
