20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Alien vs. Predator, was the best-selling DVD nationwide. “AVP” got off to an impressive start during its first day in release Jan. 25, selling about 1.85 million combined DVD and VHS units. The sci-fi actioner was also the nation’s top rental title during the same frame, generating about $8.6 million in consumer spending for the week ending Jan. 30.
Ray sold more than 2 million combined DVD and VHS units Tuesday during its first day in release on home video. The Jamie Foxx-starrer generated more than $44 million in gross consumer home video spending during its first 24 hours on store shelves.
Meanwhile, Buena Vista Home Entertainment generated more than $200 million in combined gross consumer spending on the simultaneous home video releases of the animated direct-to-video Mulan II, Shall We Dance?, and Mr. 3000.
