Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the theatrically underperforming sequel XXX: State of the Union into video stores a mere 88 days after its box office debut and the actioner was the top seller and the top renter its first week in stores.
“XXX” sold nearly twice as many copies as Constantine did in its second week, while on the rental end, the sequel generated a respectable $12.2 million, or nearly half its total theatrical gross of $26.1 million.
Other new theatricals on the charts are New Line’s Upside of Anger, which debuted at No. 4 on First Alert and at No. 3 on the rental chart, and King’s Ransom, also from New Line, which entered the sales chart at No. 7 and the rental chart at No. 11.
