After months of speculation, 50 Cent confirmed that Netflix won a bid to his Diddy Do It docuseries. Forbes stated that the documentary series will cover sexual abuse, rape, assault, and sex trafficking allegations against rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs. 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, recently revealed on X and Instagram that the streaming giant won the “bidding war.” The caption stated, “NETFLIX wins the bidding war but if more victims keep coming out I’m gonna need more episodes.”
50 Cent first announced in December that his production company would create a series on Diddy. The rapper-turned-producer claimed he would donate all proceeds to the alleged victims, per Forbes. Previously, 50 Cent posted a video of former rapper Mark Currey on X, teasing the Diddy Do It docuseries. In the video, Currey was heard saying how Diddy Combs used to spike champagne bottles with “something to make the girls real, real slippery” in clubs.
Netflix representatives have not yet responded to Forbes and The Hollywood Reporter‘s requests for comment. Additionally, there is no news of a release date window for the now-confirmed 50 Cent’s Diddy docuseries, which does not yet have a confirmed title.
What will 50 Cent’s Diddy Do It Netflix docuseries focus on?
According to Fox 29 Philadelphia, 50 Cent’s Diddy Do It Netflix docuseries will examine the multiple allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs. Diddy, who is currently facing multiple sexual assault allegations, has been in the news for quite some time. Cassie Ventura, the rapper’s ex-girlfriend is one of the women who has accused him of sexual assault. He faces similar allegations from two other women.
The outlet reported that the accusations and the controversy surrounding Diddy’s alleged sex crimes span across decades. Recently, federal authorities have raided many of his properties. Moreover, just days ago, CNN acquired and released a surveillance video from 2016. The said video shows Diddy brutally assaulting Ventura, who was his girlfriend at the time. The footage captured the accused as he grabbed, shoved, dragged, and then kicked the woman in a California hotel.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, 50 Cent’s Diddy Do It docuseries will also look into the lawsuit Diddy’s ex Cassie Ventura filed against him. Reportedly, in the November 2023 lawsuit, Cassie alleged that the rapper had raped, physically abused, and assaulted her several times throughout their relationship. The former couple settled the lawsuit one day later for an undisclosed amount. Since then, two other women have accused Diddy of rape.
The Netflix docuseries will also explore former producer Ronnie “Lil Rod” Jones’ lawsuit and the allegations he made against Diddy. In the filings, Lil Rod accused him of sexual abuse, rape, and sex trafficking, reported The Hollywood Reporter. Forbes further reported that 50 Cent’s production company G-Unit Film & Television’s spokesperson confirmed the docuseries will focus on the allegations against Diddy.
Billboard stated that Crystal McKinney also filed a lawsuit against Diddy in New York. In the complaint, McKinney alleged that Diddy drugged her once while she was visiting his recording studio. The allegation states the rapper gave her alcohol and marijuana laced with a “narcotic or other intoxicating substances” before leading her to the bathroom. There, he began kissing her nonconsensually and also forced her to perform oral sex on him against her will.
CNN reported that Diddy issued an apology after the release of the surveillance footage. He called his behavior in the video “inexcusable” and claimed he takes “full responsibility for my actions in that video.” The rapper said he was “disgusted then when I did it” and is “disgusted now” by his actions.
Diddy claimed in his apology video, “I went and I sought out professional help,” revealing he “got into going to therapy, going to rehab.” He stated, “I had to ask God for his mercy and grace.” The 54-year-old expressed how “sorry” he is, further claiming, “I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”
There is no release date for 50 Cent’s Diddy Do It Netflix docuseries yet.
