Born on March 22, 1931, to Ann and Joseph Shatner, he had two more siblings. He went to Willingdon Elementary School and West Hill High School. According to Biography, began acting in 1956. He starred in a Broadway called Tamburlaine the Great which was directed by Guthrie. Furthermore, he appeared in shows such as Goodyear Television Playhouse, Studio One, and more. Finally, in 1958 he made his film debut in the film, The Brothers Karamazov.
