Chinese costume and period dramas have gained popularity across the globe. The network giant iQIYI recently announced the lineup of C-dramas that will premiere in 2024. The list includes highly anticipated costume dramas like Fox Spirit Matchmaker, Follow Your Heart, A Moment But Forever, Moonlight Mystique, etc.
1. Fox Spirit Matchmaker
This upcoming costume C-drama features actors Yang Mi and Gong Jun in the leading roles. The drama will tell the story of Tushan Hong Hong (Yang Mi), a fox spirit who saves the life of Dongfang Yue Chu (Gong Jun), a human from his enemy. They fall in love and form an allegiance with their loved ones to dispel evil forces who continue to try to harm them. It is an adaptation of the manhwa “Hu Yao Xiao Hong Niang” by Tuo Xiao Xin.
2. Follow Your Heart
This upcoming costume C-drama will feature Luo Yun Xi and Song Yi in the leading roles. Jiang Xin Bai (Luo Yun Xi) is an investigator who joins hands with Yan Nan Xing (Song Yi), a female doctor who can change her appearance to eliminate evil forces. Meanwhile, they experience “three marriages” and “three separations” together.
3. A Moment But Forever
In this costume drama, Goddess Wu Shuang (Tiffany Tang) of the heavenly realm wishes to assassinate Yuan Zhong (Lin Xue Yi), a high priest of a prominent clan. But as fate may have it, they fall in love and form an allegiance. Meanwhile, the gods fall into eternal sleep after a seal that used to contain demons is broken.
4. Moonlight Mystique
This costume drama follows the story of Bai Shu (Bai Lu), the youngest daughter of the General’s mansion, who tries to acquire immortality to repay an old debt. She unknowingly saves the powerful demon god Fan Yue (Ao Ruipeng). At first, these two strangers get off on the wrong foot. But as time passes, they get to know each other better and eventually fall in love.
5. Go East
Four residents of the “Sifang Pavilion,” Yuan Mo (Tan Jian Ci), A Shu (Zhou Yiran), Yu-Chi Hua (Adi Kan), and Wang Kun Wu (Du Chun), form an allegiance to defend their homeland and uphold justice. It is an adaptation of the novel “Xi Yu Lie Wang Fei” by Chen Jian. These four embody the four corners.
6. Snowy Night: Timeless Love
Huo Zhan Bai (Joseph Zeng), a disciple of the Tianshan Sect, meets Xue Zi Ye (Li Qin) while looking for medicine for his friend’s son. They fall in love but unfortunately get separated after Huo Zhan agrees to serve as the pavilion master. The drama is an adaptation of Cang Yue’s “Seven Nights Snow.”
7. The Substitute Princess’s Love
Wen Ye (Dylan Kuo) passes away on his wedding day. The bride-to-be’s mother fears the humiliation of a broken marriage. Thus, she forces her estranged daughter, Shen Ke Yi (Zhang Miao Yi), to take her daughter’s place in marriage.
8. My Wife’s Double Life
In this costume drama, Liu Rong(Sabrina Zhuang), the legendary “willow thief,” marries Xu Mu Chen (Tang Xiao Tian), a stone-cold inspector. This begins a game of cat and mouse between the newlywed husband and wife. The drama is an adaptation of Yan Nong’s “Zei Niang Zi.”
