Wind Breaker episode 9 recap
Wind Breaker episode 9, titled “Umemiya Style,” starts with the spectators being fascinated with the fight between Choji and Umemiya. Although the former’s attacks are reckless, Umemiya considers them weak as they have no real weight behind them. Moreover, Umemiya asks him what he is fighting for.
The question causes Choji to break down as he looks at himself deeply. Angered by Umemiya’s words, Choji charges at Umemiya, attacking him ferociously. Sakura gets mad at Umemiya’s approach, but Sugishita tells him to shut up and watch the fight. Choji’s wavering mental state caused him to bite Umemiya in the neck, but the latter calmed him down. He reminds Choji of how fun the fights between Shishitoren and Bofurin previously were and how happy he was back then.
Umemiya calls on him to remember and knocks him out with a headbutt. The episode then reveals how happy Choji used to be and how lonely he had been recently. He wakes up to find Togame with him on stage, and the two have a heart-to-heart discussion about their issues and resolve them. Choji removes his jacket and tries to hand over Shishitoren to Umemiya, but he refuses. The episode ends with Umemiya telling Choji the two sides are now friends and Choji laughing about it.
