Jujutsu Kaisen: 5 Emotionally-driven Characters Like Mechamaru

The central theme of Jujutsu Kaisen is based on emotions and experiences. From cursed spirits to combat techniques, in every aspect of the series lingers the influence of emotions. In the recently animated Shibuya Incident arc, Mechamaru exemplifies his abilities as a sorcerer. And he does it solely using his emotions.

After all, the world of Jujutsu Kaisen is replete with sorcerers who empower themselves with anger, fear, resentment, and shame. Additionally, even certain curses can use their emotions to fuel their powers. However, warfare is not the only time when the sorcerers are emotionally driven. There are several moments when Mechamaru has eloquently expressed his confusion, surprise, and gladness toward his friends.

This article will explore more about the characters in Jujutsu Kaisen who, like Mechamaru, are not shy about expressing their emotions.

Yuji Itadori

As the protagonist, Yuji Itadori is true to his nature. He is kind-hearted, lives life to the fullest, and promises to protect those around him. In fact, one can never see Yuji hiding his emotions. If he is happy, he laughs out loud and lightens up anywhere he goes.

However, if his friends are in danger, Yuji adopts a deadly, merciless facade. He protects his friends ferociously and with rage, as in the case of Junpei’s death.

Kasumi Miwa

In contrast to others on this list, the cheerful Kasumi Miwa rarely gets infuriated or vengeful. Rather, she is full of giddy optimism among her intimidating peers at Kyoto Jujustsu High. Although Kasumi is strict and disciplined when it comes to fulfilling responsibilities, her excitement knows no bounds when she meets Satoru Gojo.

She admires the white-haired sorcerer with the utmost respect and unmatched enthusiasm. For instance, in Season 1, she cheers for him like a devoted fan, eagerly gets his autograph, and clicks a selfie, too!

Junpei Yoshino

The story of Junpei Yoshino is a tragedy in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. Having been a victim of bullying at school, Junpei suppresses his anger and disgust inside him instead of venting it out.

Later, this internal struggle compels Junpei to plunge into the darkness, led by Mahito. Unfortunately, the shapeshifting cursed spirit turns him into bait for Yuji. This only prolonged Junpei’s despair, which brought about a horrific end for him.

Aoi Todo

Aoi Todo is one of the most powerful sorcerers from Kyoto Jujutsu High. Unlike the others, Todo possesses strong emotions, particularly for his favorite idol, Nobuko Takada. Additionally, he takes a specific interest in people’s preferences regarding women, sometimes even judging them based on their answers.

For instance, Todo was visibly upset to hear Megumi Fushiguro’s response to his question, resulting in a horrifying confrontation between the two. But, surprisingly, the same Todo grew emotional when he realised that both he and Yuji share the same preferences. This led to them becoming best friends and even teaming up to fight against cursed spirits later in the series. He demonstrates his enthusiastic and spirited personality through his genuine nature.

Jogo

Unlike other curses capable of controlling their anger, Jogo seems to thrive in his hotheaded nature. Interestingly, it is his anger issues that empower him to unanticipated levels. After all, the King of Curses commended his strength as a cursed spirit and told him to be proud of himself.

However, Jogo’s fiery personality does not stem solely from his hot temper. He is also warm and cares about Hanami and Dagon, whom he considers friends. In short, Jogo’s rage is what sets him apart from the other cursed spirits as a warm yet threatening entity.

Jujutsu Kaisen has a cast of powerful characters who neither shies away from danger nor from expressing their emotions. With Mechamaru setting an example, it is evident that emotions play a major role in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen.
