With Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 coming to an end, the excitement for what the manga narrative has in store for anime fans is escalating. The aftermath of the Shibuya Incident arc leaves various mysteries to unravel, one of which is Satoru Gojo’s sealing. With Kenjaku sealing Gojo within the Prison Realm, the fandom has been pondering the question: How does Gojo get unsealed in the story?
The jujutsu sorcerers’ primary concern, as seen in the anime’s season 2, was to unseal Gojo. Though some skilled sorcerers joined hands to rescue Gojo, the Prison Realm was difficult to touch. This Prison Realm is a cursed object that has a barrier with an impervious pocket realm. As such, one who is sealed within cannot move. Once the gate closes, the captive is indefinitely trapped in a dimension where time does not pass.
When and how does Gojo get unsealed?
In the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Gojo gets unsealed much later. It is only in chapter 221 that the readers finally witness Gojo escaping the Prison Realm. Given the current pace of the anime, this means it could be season 4 before Gojo will be seen on screen again. Besides, considering MAPPA’s production and the manga’s current progression, fans cannot expect to see Gojo in season 3 unless there is a flashback scene of the white-haired sorcerer.
To unseal the captive, i.e., Gojo, one needs to open up the Prison Realm’s back gate. Later in the manga, Hana Kurusu and her technique finally allow Gojo to escape the Prison Realm. As an incarnated form of Angel, a powerful ancient sorcerer, she is the only solution to Gojo’s unsealing mystery. She uses her Angel’s Jacob’s Ladder Cursed Technique to open up the required back gate of the Prison Realm. Moreover, her Jacob’s Ladder has the ability to nullify other cursed techniques, giving her all the more edge over the most powerful curse technique users.
