One Piece Episode 1030 Recap
At the bar, Uta complains to Shanks about Luffy’s recklessness. Makino thanks Uta for hanging out with Luffy, but Uta says she’s just protecting Shanks. Shortly after, Luffy arrives, asking Shanks if he can board his ship. As usual, Shanks says no. Uta reminds him that they were supposed to train by the sea today. After the kids leave, Shanks tells Makino they will be going soon. Meanwhile, Uta and Luffy are racing towards a rock. The rock turns out to be the local Sea Monster, and the two quickly rush back to land. Uta asks Luffy why he wants to become a pirate. She also shares her dream with him: to travel the world with Shanks and create songs. Luffy decides he wishes to do the same thing as Shanks, and Uta says that won’t change the world. Luffy says he’ll think about it another time.
Eventually, Shanks and the others depart. Luffy snuck into the ship, but Uta found him. Luffy continues to ask to join the crew, and he still gets the same answer. Uta tells him to get stronger, and she’ll even accompany Luffy to ask Shanks the next time. After some time, Shanks returns. However, Uta isn’t with them. Shanks tells him Uta left the ship to become a singer. Luffy gets disappointed because Shanks wouldn’t tell him the whole reason. Later, news spread worldwide that Shanks destroyed the island of Elegia.
Beckman approaches Luffy and asks him to forgive Shanks for not saying anything. However, Luffy still doesn’t understand why. He runs off and encounters mountain bandits. The bandits beat him up for the previous encounter with Uta. Sometime after, Beckman arrives and saves Luffy. On a different day, Luffy still asks Shanks if he can get on the ship. The two eventually make up and are back to normal. In the present day, the Straw Hats decide to change their route to watch Uta’s show.
