The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 12 Recap
Naofumi and Kyo talk about their lives in the human world and what gaming meant to them. Back in the present, Kyo creates a Catastrophe Wave. Yomogi reveals that Kyo is behind the Wave, using the power he stole from the Spirit Tortoise. Naofumi gets angry and almost hits Yomogi, but Yomogi says she didn’t expect Kyo to create a Wave. Shortly after, Ethnobolt and Yomogi bring Naofumi and his party to Kyo’s location.
Once they arrive, Kazuki’s subordinates block them. They have been transformed into Chimeras, believing the false promise that Kyo will revive Kazuki. Raphtalia easily defeats the subordinates, and Naofumi defends the group from an explosion. After that, Kyo approaches them with Kazuki next to him. Kazuki is holding a mirror, and Yomogi informs the party that they are looking at a homunculus. Kazuki is already dead, and Kyo put the Mirror Hero’s soul in his corpse.
Naofumi and Rishia chase after Kyo while the others fight Kazuki’s corpse. Kyo starts taunting and teasing Naofumi, causing Naofumi’s rage to heighten. Naofumi uses the Wrath Shield, and it starts consuming him. Rishia tries to get Naofumi back to his senses. On the other hand, the others finally defeat Kazuki’s body. Naofumi eventually returns to normal after getting comforted by Raphtalia, Filo, and Ost. Together with the Vassal Mirror and the Legendary Shield, Naofumi successfully defeats Kyo.
Kyo dies, and the Catastrophe Wave immediately disappears. Naofumi’s party reunites with Kizuna and the others. They exchange quick goodbyes since Naofumi’s party will be teleported back to Melromarc in about a minute. Upon returning, Naofumi receives a reward from the Queen. Meanwhile, the other Cardinal Heroes successfully fought against the Wave while Naofumi was gone.
