Shenmue the Animation is set to premiere in just two days, and ahead of its release, the series has revealed a handful of extra cast members, as well as the ending theme’s performer.

After announcing the cast last month, three new members of the Japanese cast have been detailed, including:
- Haruka Terui as Shenhua
- Haruka Fushimi as Nozomi Harasaki
- Ryuichi Kijima as Guizhang Chen
The characters they are playing have already been detailed, along with their English-speaking cast members, but it was previously unknown who would be playing them in Japan. Alongside the casting news, the ending theme of Shenmue the Animation was also revealed to be the song “Sympathy” by rock band Narudora.
“1985, Yokosuka. Ryo Hazuki has trained to master the Hazuki Style Jujitsu under his strict father in the Hazuki Dojo from his childhood,” reads the official synopsis of the series. “However, one day a mysterious man named Lan Di murders his father and takes the ‘mirror’ his father was protecting. Ryo is determined to find the truth behind his father’s murder, but soon finds himself getting stuck in a war between the underground organizations…. Traveling from Yokosuka to Hong Kong, Ryo’s long journey begins!”

Shenmue the Animation is set to premiere on February 5, 2022, and will debut on Adult Swim and Crunchyroll. Chikara Sakurai, known for One Punch Man Season 2, is also directing the series and Telecom Animation Film is providing the animation. Tower of God‘s Kensuke Ishikawa is chief animation director and Bleach and Rent Tsukumogami‘s Kento Shimoyama wrote the script. The series is based on Sega’s franchise that started in 1999.
