Funimation and Sunrise surprised those anticipating the upcoming Scarlet Nexus anime with a brand-new trailer, as well as key art and character art, for the “brainpunk” series.
As seen in the trailer, the Scarlet Nexus anime is set in an alternate 2020 where humanity has discovered a psionic hormone in the brain that grants superhuman abilities. As the substance is discovered, monsters known as Others begin falling from the sky and begin taking over. With the human race on the brink of extinction, those who have honed the craft of their extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, have been recruited by the Other Suppression Force (OSF) to defend humanity and save it from extinction.

Specifically, the Scarlet Nexus anime will follow Kasane Randall and Yuito Sumeragi, who will be voiced by Asami Seto and Junya Enoki respectively. Also lending their voice talent to the upcoming series are Yuri Horie, Ryota Takeuchi, Tomomi Mineuchi, Daisuke Namikawa, Yumi Hara, Chinatsu Akasaki, Kengo Kawanishi, and Marika Kohno.
The new key art gives a good visual of the full cast of characters you’ll see in the upcoming Scarlet Nexus anime. Additionally, there is character art for each character. Each picture gives us a bit of an idea of what kind of powers each character possesses. If that isn’t enough brainpunk action to get you excited, then you’re in luck. A demo for the Scarlet Nexus video game will be available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on May 21. If you’re a PlayStation player, you can expect the demo to come to PS4 and PS5 a week later, on May 28.
The Scarlet Nexus anime can be watched on Funimation this summer. The video game, which is developed and published by Bandai Namco, is scheduled to launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on June 25.
