Fox has committed to a script-plus-penalty deal with Riki Lindhome (Kidding) for a new single-camera sitcom, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lindhome will star as well as co-write the upcoming Tails, with former Community scribe Monica Padrick sharing in the co-writing duties. The two will executive produce the series alongside Amy Poehler and her Universal Television-backed Paper Kite banner.
In Tails, Lindhome will play Ericka, a woman in her late-30s who refuses to settle down any aspect of her life, despite pressure from the outside world to do so. The actor is best known for her starring role on Another Period and a recurring part on The Big Bang Theory. She’s also one-half of a musical duo, Garfunkel and Oates, with fellow actor/comedian Kate Micucci.
Poehler, meanwhile, has found a lucrative career in producing. The former Parks and Recreation star is behind the NBC sitcom I Feel Bad, Adult Swim’s Three Busy Debras, the Netflix series Russian Dolls, as well as the final season of Comedy Central’s Broad City. She’s also back in front of the camera with former Parks co-star Nick Offerman in NBC’s craft competition series Making It, which just got greenlit for a second season. She will also make her directorial debut with Netflix’s Wine Country next year, which she will also produce and star in.
