Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity Set for October 4 Release

Warner Bros. Pictures has set the theatrical release of Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity for October 4.

Gravity focuses on the character of Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock), a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission. By her side is veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney), in command of his last flight before retiring. On a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster sAlfonso Cuarontrikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone –tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth… and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

The October 4 release puts Gravity up against the Vince Vaughn comedy Delivery Man, Relativity Media’s thriller Paranoia, the 3-D re-release of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Planned for a 3D release, Gravity is written by Cuarón and his son, Jonás Cuarón.
