Adam Sandler Saddles Up For Ridiculous 6

Adam Sandler is going to be moving to Paramount Pictures for his next feature film, set to shoot in April 2013. Deadline has now revealed that the title of the project, known to be a comedy western, is Ridiculous 6.

Plot details have not yet been confirmed by the studio, but the film is likely a parody of John Sturges’ iconic tale, The Magnificent Seven, in turn inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai. The 1960 film itself is targeted for a remake with Tom Cruise tentatively attached to star.

Sandler’s most recent live-action comedies, Jack & Jill and That’s My Boy have under-performed at the box office, though his recently-released family film, Hotel Transylvania, has grossed more than $188 million worldwide.

Next summer, Sandler will star in his first sequel, Grown Ups 2, reuniting him with Happy Madison regulars Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock and Rob Schneider. It’s likely that, if Ridiculous 6 is indeed an ensemble project, several of those names could be joining the cast in the near future.
