“We’re working on a season that has a really fresh look and feel,” Kang says. “We’re playing with time in this season, so we get to kind of jump forward in the story.”
Kang also spoke about how the show is going to focus more on the core character relationships in the upcoming season, adding that season 9 will also present some intriguing story ideas for the women of the series. Not addressed however were the reports that Andrew Lincoln will be exiting the series, which is said to happen within the first six episodes of the new season.
Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse, and follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home.
