New Poster and Trailer Debut For Gauguin Biopic

Considered one of the most influential artists in history, Paul Gauguin is also one not oft-told in cinematic history, with only three prior biopics being released and now Vincent Cassel will take on the role of Gauguin in the upcoming Gauguin: Voyage to Tahiti, which has just released its first trailer and poster, both of which can be viewed below!

He was an innovator of modern art during his life, known for experimenting with bold colors and distorted proportions alongside Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cezanne, only his work didn’t become appreciated until after his death in 1903. By 1891, Gauguin was already well-known in artistic circles, but had grown tired of the civilized world and its political and moral conventions. Leaving his wife and children behind, he ventures alone to Tahiti, consumed with a yearning for new inspiration. Pushing deep into the Tahitian jungle, Gauguin meets Tehura, his muse, who will consume his mind and inspire his most iconic works of art.

The film is directed by Edouard Deluc (Welcome to Argentina) and written by Deluc, Etienne Comar (My King), Thomas Lilti (Irreplacable) and Sarah Kaminsky (R.A.I.D. Special Unit) based on the author’s memoir “Noa Noa” and features Cassel (Black Swan), Tuhei Adams, Malik Zidi (Made in France) and Pernille Bergendorff (Follow the Money) and is produced by Bruno Levy and distributed by Cohen Media.

Gauguin: Voyage to Tahiti will hit select theaters July 11.
