This Friday, DisneyPixar is bringing Finding Nemo back to theaters worldwide for the first time in nearly a decade. What’s more, the entire film is presented, for the first time, in full 3D and is also accompanied by the brand new third “Toy Story Toon” titled “Partysaurus Rex.”
The second-highest grossing film of 2003, Finding Nemo‘s enduring popularity is thanks in no small part to the direction of Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich and a voice cast that includes Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, Alexander Gould, Willem DaFoe and many, many more.
In the film, when Marlin (Brooks), an overly cautious clownfish living in the Great Barrier Reef, helplessly watches his son get scooped up by a diver, he must put aside his fears of the ocean and leave the safety of his coral enclave to find Nemo (Gould). Buoyed by the companionship of Dory (DeGeneres), a forgetful but relentlessly optimistic fish, Marlin finds himself the unlikely hero in a seemingly impossible land-and-sea rescue.
ComingSoon.net traveled to the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco — a short distance from Pixar’s headquarters in Emeryville — to speak with some of the people responsible for bringing Nemo (back) to the big screen including co-director Lee Unkrich, Stereoscopic Supervisor Bob Whitehill, Director 3D Production Josh Hollander as well as Mark Walsh, the director of “Partysaurus Rex.”
