New Looper Poster Revealed as the Viral Campaign Heats Up

If you’ve been following the viral campaign for Rian Johnson’s Looper, you may have received a message in your inbox today from Abe (Jeff Daniels’ character) at The Looper Network. Today marked the ARG’s first “mission” to reveal a new poster at the official site.

To participate, all you needed to do was tweet with the hashtag #loopernetwork. The more tweets that were sent out, the more the image got unscrambled. You can check out the unscrambled poster below!

The fun doesn’t stop there, however! If you’ve set up a profile on the Network, you can log in and complete the first mission by finding a hidden four-digit code somewhere on the scrambled image. After you’ve entered it, you’ll receive a special behind-the-scenes image from the film.

There also looks to be another tie-in viral site getting ready to launch at www.maxlabs.net, focusing on the film’s telekinetic angle. How it all plays out remains to be seen, but check back for updates as they become available.

In the film, which hits on September 28th, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.
