Kristen Stewart is set to play the leading role in Lie Down in Darkness, Vulture reports. Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper is attached to direct the adaptation of William Styron’s 1951 novel, officially described as follows:
“Lie Down in Darkness” centers on the Loftis family Milton and Helen and their daughters, Peyton and Maudie. The story, told through a series of flashbacks on the day of Peytons funeral, is a powerful depiction of a family doomed by its failure to forget and its inability to love.
Stewart, who appeared earlier this year in Snow White and the Huntsman, will play Peyton, though there’s not yet an anticipated start date.
Stewart can be seen later this year reprising her role as Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 and as Marylou in Walter Salles’ On the Road.
