Arnold Schwarzenegger will topline Amazon’s western event TV series, Outrider
Deadline has announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Terminator, True Lies) will be toplining Amazon’s western event TV series, Outrider. The actor will also act as an executive producer, alongside Mace Neufeld, who is also the executive producer of Amazon’s upcoming series, Jack Ryan, starring John Krasinski.
Outrider is a western mystery series set in the Oklahoma Indian Territory in the late 1800s. It tells the dark and dangerous tale of a deputy who is not only tasked by a notoriously brutal judge with apprehending a legendary outlaw in the wilderness, but must also partner with a ruthless Federal Marshal (Schwarzenegger) — who immigrated to the US from Europe as a child — to make sure justice is properly served. As the story unfolds, enemies will become allies and a series of unpredictable surprises will blur the line between good guys and bad.
Outrider would mark the first major scripted TV series for actor and former California governor Schwarzenegger, who did a brief one-season stint as star and executive producer on NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice.
Outrider is being co-written and executive producers by Trey Calloway (APB, The Messengers, CSI: NY) and Mark Montgomery.
