Heat Vision is reporting that “The River” producer Zack Estrin will write the script for Paranormal Activity 4 at Paramount Pictures. The film is scheduled to hit theaters this October 19 still.
ABC’s “The River” is also executive produced by “Paranormal Activity” producer Jason Blum and the franchise’s creator, Oren Peli. Estrin has worked as a writer and co-executive producer on “Prison Break” and as a writer on “No Ordinary Family.”
Paranormal Activity 3 directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are expected to return, but the trade says their deals are not finalized yet.
The first film in the franchise cost about $15,000 to produce and earned $193.4 million worldwide in 2009. It was followed by the second film in 2010 which received $177.5 million worldwide on a budget of just $3 million. The third film, made for $5 million, took in $206 million worldwide last year.
