Where is the Seinfeld Cast Now?

Since the show ended in May of 1998 on NBC, the Seinfeld cast has all gone on to extended, separate careers, mostly with great success. Some Seinfeld cast members have gone on to movies, while others have had new series of their own. Some have even had multiple shows, each with varying levels of popularity. However, each of them has remained in the public eye, even if in a not-so-great light.

JERRY SEINFELD

The lead, Jerry Seinfeld, has focused primarily on reviving his stand-up career, though only part-time. He has also created a web show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, where he interviews his many comedian friends while they go out for coffee in one of Seinfeld’s many classic vehicles. It has met with tremendous success, and some of the biggest names in comedy, business, and politics have ridden with him on the show, including former president Barack Obama. With the addition of residuals from Seinfeld on Hulu, his income seems to be doing fine.

JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has led more than one series since Seinfeld’s end. Immediately after the show, she did some voice acting and guest appearances, especially on Seinfeld co-creator Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. She then had a five-season run on CBS’s New Adventures of Old Christine, which had some critical success. Currently, she plays sometimes Vice-President/President/Presidential candidate Selina Meyer on Veep, HBO’s comedy sensation. The show just finished its sixth season and is slated to return to HBO’s lineup next year.

JASON ALEXANDER

Jason Alexander has had a far more dynamic experience than other Seinfeld cast members since the show’s end. He has appeared on stage and screen, both big and small. He has also taken a big step behind the camera and put on the director’s hat. He has directed episodes of Criminal Minds and Mike & Molly while still making many cameos on shows like Star Trek: Voyager, The Simpsons, and Drunk History.

MICHAEL RICHARDS

The man who made Kramer famous, Michael Richards, has probably had the most checkered history of anyone in the Seinfeld cast. He has made a few cameos, notably in Curb Your Enthusiasm. However, during a stand-up appearance in 2006, Richards was videoed going off on a racist tirade against an audience member. Richards mostly retired from the public after the incident, but he did have a short-lived co-starring role on the TV Land series Kirstie.

OTHER NOTABLE SEINFELD CAST MEMBERS

Other side actors from the show have made it even bigger. Wayne Knight, who played Jerry’s arch-nemesis Newman, has had both TV and movie appearances. Bryan Cranston, who appeared as Seinfeld’s dentist, has gone on to huge stardom thanks to the hit Breaking Bad. Now that Hulu has Seinfeld episodes, fans can watch and be reminded of how many of today’s stars got their start as part of the cast of Seinfeld.
