Buena Vista Homen Entertainment’s special edition Bambi release was the nation’s top-selling DVD and VHS last week and Fox’s The Flight of the Phoenix was the top-renting home video during the same frame.
Bambi is believed to have sold more than 3 million combined DVD and VHS units during its first week. “Phoenix” earned an estimated $8.1 million in consumer rental spending and sold about 1.4 combined DVD and VHS units, making it the third-best-selling DVD for the week ending March 6.
Paramount Home Entertainment’s The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie was the second-best-selling DVD during the same frame and came in at No. 10 on the weekly rental chart, generating an estimated $2.4 million.
Warner Home Video’s Exorcist: The Beginning was the nation’s second-best-renting title during the same frame, generating an estimated $7.4 million in consumer rental spending. The prequel was the fourth-best-selling DVD during the same frame.
