Russell Brand to Play The Hauntrepreneur

Russell Brand is set to headline Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes’ The Hauntrepreneur, Variety reports.

Scott Rosenberg, the screenwriter behind Con Air, High Fidelity and many more, sold his original spec script to Paramount last summer.

The story, a supernatural children’s tale, is said to evoke qualities of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and deals with a family who enlist the aide of a “Hauntrepreneur” to build them a haunted house in their new neighborhood.

Brand appeared last year in Hop and Arthur and can soon be seen in the Adam Shankman musical, Rock of Ages. Strangely, he was also once attached to the similarly-themed Rentaghost, though that project is currently set to star Ben Stiller.
