The Glass Castle starring Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts gets release date
Lionsgate has set the release date for their upcoming film The Glass Castle, based on the New York Times best-selling 2005 memoir by Jeannette Walls. The film stars Brie Larson (Room), Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games) and Naomi Watts (King Kong). The Glass Castle was written by Destin Daniel Cretton (who also directed) and Andrew Lanham. It’s produced by Gil Netter and Kan Kao from Netter Productions. The Glass Castle will hit theaters on August 11, 2017.
Based on one of the longest-running New York Times best-sellers, The Glass Castle tells the story of Jeannette Walls’ unconventional upbringing at the hands of her deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant parents, and her journey towards acceptance and fulfillment.
Here is the Amazon description of The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls: “When sober, Jeannette’s brilliant and charismatic father captured his children’s imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and how to embrace life fearlessly. But when he drank, he was dishonest and destructive. Her mother was a free spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity and didn’t want the responsibility of raising a family. The Walls children learned to take care of themselves. They fed, clothed, and protected one another, and eventually found their way to New York. Their parents followed them, choosing to be homeless even as their children prospered.”
Larson won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in the film Room. She’s also known for Short Term 12 and The Spectacular Now. She will play the lead role in Captain Marvel and will make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War. She was most recently seen in Kong: Skull Island.
Harrelson was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for The Messenger and for Best Actor in The People vs. Larry Flynt. He’s also known for his work in the TV series Cheers and the films Zombieland, No Country for Old Men and Now You See Me, as well as the Hunger Games franchise.
Watts is known for her work in the films King Kong, Mulholland Drive, The Ring and The Impossible, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. She was also nominated for her work in 21 Grams. She’ll appear in the upcoming TV series Twin Peaks as well as Gypsy.
