While talk of a continuation of the much-loved television series “Arrested Development” has been around ever since the show’s cancellation in 2006, the focus of said continuation has primarily been as a feature film. Now, TVLine reports that, while the movie is still moving forward, “Arrested Development” will likely be headed to the small screen again as well.
The show’s creator, Mitch Hurwitz, spoke at tonight’s New Yorker Festival and said that the current idea proposes a “mini-season” of nine or ten episodes, each focusing on a single member of the Bluth family before everyone is reunited for the big screen conclusion. Through this, the time gap between the end of the series and the start of the movie would be filled in for viewers.
Jason Bateman added the following on Twitter: “It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13. VERY excited!”
Further details are currently unavailable but will hopefully be announced shortly along with official confirmation of when and where the new season might air.
