Canada’s Blood in the Snow 2017 Unspools at The Royal

Venerable horror film fest Blood in the Snow announces 2017 dates and cool new venue

Toronto-based horror and cult film festival Blood in the Snow Canadian Film Festival will roll out its 6th year at the city’s coolest cinematic hot-spot, the legendary The Royal Cinema on College Street in Little Italy. This is good news for fans of the fest and the venue and makes perfect sense as The Royal — a historic location — has become a major hub for Toronto’s hardest-core cineastes.

The Blood in the Snow festival will run this year from November 23 to 26, 2017 with it unique program of features, seminars and shorts that highlight the best in contemporary Canadian genre cinema. For those of you not paying attention, some of the world’s craziest horror movies come from Canada. It’s because of all that repression and that nagging inferiority complex. It comes out in spectacularly perverse ways in their art…

“This was the logical next step for us. We are moving up from 282 seats to 380 seats and you can’t top The Royal for picture, sounds and screen size,” says festival director and founder Kelly Michael Stewart. “We will have 10 screenings over four days this year and it is incredible how we keep growing and growing each year.” Early bird festival passes are now on sale soon for only $75 and individual tickets will go on sale later this fall for $13. Film submissions are also now open on Film Freeway.
