Chris Tucker, absent from Hollywood for half a decade, may finally be set to make his return. Variety reports that the actor has two potential projects on his plate, including The Silver Linings Playbook and Neighborhood Watch.
Directed by David O. Russell, the former is set to star Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. Based on the novel by Matthew Quick, the plot is officially described as follows:
Pat Peoples, the endearing narrator of this touching and funny debut, is down on his luck. The former high school history teacher has just been released from a mental institution and placed in the care of his mother. Not one to be discouraged, Pat believes he has only been on the inside for a few monthsrather than four yearsand plans on reconciling with his estranged wife. Refusing to accept that their apart time is actually a permanent separation, Pat spends his days and nights feverishly trying to become the man she had always desired.
Tucker is in talks to play the part of Danny, a friend of Cooper’s Peoples who is a resident of the institution.
Neighborhood Watch, meanwhile, will star Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Rosemarie DeWitt and Jonah Hill. To be directed by Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod), the film tells of a neighborhood watch crew that is secretly an excuse for local men to hang out together. Things take a turn for the serious, though, when the team accidentally uncovers a plot to destroy the world.
Tucker is up for the part of Jamarcus, one of the dads and a recent divorcee.
